Equine Therapy for Families
Family issues that we can help with include remarriages, school problems, & divorce. We also can assist with transitions (i.e. birth of a child, child moving out of the home, etc.) & cultural problems. Any of these issues can cause a breakdown in communication, cause anxiety, increase stress levels, and create feelings of helpless, frustration, & fear.
Common issues between family members are:
Communication problems
Marital conflicts
Adjustment in roles due to
remarriage or separation or divorce
Child behavior problems
Parenting problems
Academic or peer problems
Equine therapy is an experiential method, which means that in working with horses, everything during the session is in the here and now. Participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses, and then processing (or discussing) feelings, behaviors, and patterns. Equine therapy can help address both verbal and non-verbal communication, expressing feelings, coping skills, confidence levels, self-esteem, teamwork and relationship issues.
Many of the exercises designed for families concentrate on communication, team-building and establishing trust.
Lazy Horse Ranch offers a special Equine Therapy group for women facing changes. The course focuses on problem-solving, communication, distractions & temptations, positive body image, relationships, self-care and empowerment.
